Apps for mobile devices

These resources require a remote access account where indicated. Create either an OpenAthens for access via the Library website, or a  Medical Director remote access account via Clinicians Health Channel (CHC).

When signing up for remote access, you should register using your work email address.

Australian Medicines Handbook (AMH)

There is no dedicated app for AMH, but you can create a browser shortcut on your home screen for easy access.

Choose either Option 1 or 2:

Option 1

  1. Go to the AMH link on the Library's list of databases and create a shortcut*.
  2. Open the shortcut and tap the ‘Enter here’ link for AMH.
  3. Sign in with your OpenAthens account if you are off-site.

Option 2

  1. Go to the Clinicians Health Channel (CHC) and create a shortcut*.
  2. Open the shortcut, tap the AMH link.
  3. Sign in with your CHC account if you are off-site.

* Create a shortcut on your home screen

  1. On iPhone or iPad using Safari:
    1. Tap the share icon (a rectangle with upwards-pointing arrow). On iPhones it’s at the bottom of the screen. On iPads it's at the top of the screen.
    2. Tap the ‘Add to Home Screen’ icon in the share menu
    3. Edit the name for the icon (the shorter the better) then tap Add.
  2. On Android devices using Chrome:
    1. Tap the menu button (the three dots at the top right)
    2. Select ‘Add to Home screen’ from the menu.
    3. Edit the name for the icon (the shorter the better) then tap Add.

BMJ Best Practice

  1. Go to BMJ Best Practice via the Library website (requires an OpenAthens account for off-site access).
  2. Create a free personal account.
  3. Download the app for iOS or Android.
  4. Use your BMJ Best Practice account details to access the app.

Browzine

BrowZine is a journal platform aimed at keeping you up to date with the latest issues of all your favourite journals. It is fully integrated with the Library's journal database, which ensures you see only those titles where access is available.

ClinicalKey

  1. Go to ClinicalKey via the Library website (requires an OpenAthens account for off-site access).
  2. Create a free personal account.
  3. Download the app for iOS or Android.
  4. Use your ClinicalKey personal account details to log in.

The Cochrane Library

There is no dedicated app for The Cochrane Library, but you can create a browser shortcut on your home screen for easy access.

Go to The Cochrane Library on your device, then:

On iPhone or iPad using Safari:

Medscape

The Medscape mobile app is available for iOS and Android.

Both the website and app share many of the same features, including comprehensive medical information, news, drug and disease information, medical news (tailorable to your interests) and continuing professional development and educational activities.

Merck (MSD) Manual: professional version

The Merck manual is available free for Android and iOS mobile devices, for professionals and consumers.

No registration or subscription is required.

Micromedex

  1. Access the Micromedex website via either the Library website or Clinicians Health Channel.
  2. Use your OpenAthens or Clinicians Health Channel login if you are off-site.
  3. Go to Mobile Application Access and expand the Micromedex Native Mobile Apps option.


  4. Follow the directions provided to access the app.

MIMS

MIMS Online

Go to the Clinicians Health Channel and follow the instructions to install on iPhone or Android.

 

 

 

eMIMS Elite

  1. Go to eMIMS Elite (OpenAthens required for remote access).
  2. Request a token via the menu at the top right.
  3. Complete the registration with your details.
  4. Retrieve the token from your email.
  5. Download eMIMS Plus for Android or Apple devices.
  6. Tap Login, then Token.
  7. Log in using the token from your email.

Therapeutic Guidelines

  1. Go to the App Store for iPhone, or Google Play for Android devices.
  2. Download the Therapeutic Guidelines app.
  3. Request or renew a token to allow instituional access to the app (you must do this on-site at RCH and be connected to the RCH network).

  4. Open the Therapeutic Guidelines app on your device. Select ‘Institutional Login’ and enter your User ID and Enterprise Token.
  5. The app must be renewed on 7 September every year. You will be sent a reminder email with instructions to renew your registration.
